Product overview
What is Grey Board?
Grey Board, also known as greyboard, grey chipboard or rigid box board in different markets, is an uncoated paperboard primarily selected for structural strength rather than decorative printing. In a rigid gift box, for example, the Grey Board forms the strong internal structure while a printed, colored, kraft or specialty paper is wrapped or laminated onto the board to create the final appearance.
For buyers, the main properties to evaluate are thickness, rigidity, flatness, internal bond, converting performance and size tolerance. YOUNGSUN’s technical data describes the material as solid grey graphic board made from post-consumer wastepaper.
Material direction
Built around the finished structure.
Select the board by thickness, construction, stiffness and the operations it must pass through.Material highlights
- Stable thickness for consistent box dimensions, covers, backing and repeat production.
- Reliable structural rigidity for rigid packaging, stationery and bookbinding applications.
- Clean converting for cutting, die-cutting, grooving, lamination and wrapping.
- Flexible sheet formats, including standard sheets, large sheets and cut-to-size panels.
- Recovered-fibre base suited to projects where recycled material content is an important purchasing consideration.
Typical applications
- Rigid gift boxes
- calendars
- folders
- storage boxes
- hardcover books/albums

Practical questions
Before you specify.
What thicknesses of Grey Board are available?
Current technical capability covers 0.5–4.0 mm with multiple intermediate thicknesses.
What are the common sheet sizes?
787 × 1092 mm and 889 × 1194 mm; custom sizes and large sheets are also available.
What is the MOQ?
The current commercial reference is 1 metric ton; special converted formats require confirmation.
Should Grey Board be selected by GSM or thickness?
For rigid applications, thickness is normally the better starting point; GSM, density and thickness should then be evaluated together.
Can YOUNGSUN cut Grey Board to custom sizes?
Yes, subject to thickness, dimensions and processing capability.
